Futsal was established in 2006 for ladies and then in 2007 for men. It is the newest and fastest growing sport for Deaf & Hard of Hearing men and women. Players have the chance to compete at regional and international level.
At present, we offer competitions for:
- Annual Inter Provincial Championship
- European Deaf Futsal Championship (Men & Women) in 2014
- World Deaf Futsal Championship (Men & Women) in 2015
The Irish Deaf Futsal Federation (IDFF) is a sporting body that has been establish since 2009 and it aims to oversee and regulate the growth in popularity of Futsal amongst the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in Ireland. The IDFF’s main objectives; to create a Deaf Futsal League, to invite 8 clubs to join the league and fulfil league fixtures on a monthly basis and to supply players for the FAI/IDSA national Futsal team who will compete for international honours in tournaments overseas.
Also, Football Association of Ireland (FAI), as the national governing body for football and they offer programmes for both men and women in futsal by aims to provide appropriate opportunities to all those who wish to participate in futsal.
